The Wyeth – Tootle Manor is a historic house located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth constructed it in 1879. The Gothic design was created by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles occupied the house until 1887 when it sold.
The mansion has three floors, and a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. It is possible to see what it was like living in the 19th century. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth held several important positions in the city, as well as being a businessman. He was actively involved in the city’s arts and manufacturing industries. He served on the board of directors of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
