The Wyeth - Tootle Manor at 11th & Charles sts is a historic home. William M. Wyeth built the mansion in 1879. Mann Architects designed it in Gothic style. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles occupied the house until 1887 when it sold.
The mansion has three floors, and a tower. The house boasts more than 40 bedrooms. Beautiful woodwork and imported stained glasses are some of the interior's highlights. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion is found in St. Joseph, Missouri. Huston Wyeth held several important positions in the city, as well as being a businessman. He was actively involved in the city’s arts and manufacturing industries. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also a member the St. Joseph Duck Club, the Wyeth Duck Club, the Audubon Society, and the St. Joseph Duck Club. He was also president of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
