Hydrafacial
Hydrafacial is an effective, non-surgical skin care procedure that's safe, natural, and non-invasive. This facial uses advanced technology to improve the appearance and health your skin.
Hydrafacial treatments are similar to chemical peels, but they are painless. It does not use harsh chemicals to remove the skin, but instead focuses on exfoliating and cleansing. It rejuvenates the skin and gives it a youthful, healthy glow.
A licensed dermatologist (or certified aesthetician) performs the procedure with a wand. The wand simultaneously exfoliates, cleans and removes dead cells from the skin's surface.
There are different kinds of masks (e.g., clay, cactus, cucumber) for different purposes: deep-cleansing, by penetrating the pores; healing acne scars or hyper-pigmentation; brightening, for a gradual illumination of the skin tone. Facial masks also help with anti-aging, acne, crows feet, under eye bags, sagging lids, dark circles, puffiness,[1] and more. Some masks are designed to dry or solidify on the face, almost like plaster; others just remain wet. The perceived effects of a facial mask treatment include revitalizing, healing, or refreshing; they may yield temporary benefits (depending on environmental, dietary, and other skincare factors). There is little to no objective evidence that there are any long-term benefits to the various available facial treatments.[2]
Masks are removed by either rinsing the face with water, wiping off with a damp cloth, or peeling off of the face. Duration for wearing a mask varies with the type of mask, and manufacturer's usage instructions. The time can range from a few minutes to overnight. Those with sensitive skin are advised to first test out the mask on a small portion of the skin, in order to check for any irritations. Some facial masks are not suited to frequent use. A glycolic mask should not be used more frequently than once a month to avoid the risk of burning the skin.
Masks can be found anywhere from drugstores to department stores and can vary in consistency and form. Setting masks include: clay, which is a thicker consistency, and will draw out impurities (and sometimes, natural oils, too) from the pores; a cream, which stays damp to hydrate the skin; sheet-style, in which a paper mask is dampened with liquid to tone and moisturize the skin; and lastly, a hybrid/clay and cream form that includes small beads for removing dead surface skin cells. Non-setting facial masks include warm oil and paraffin wax masks. These different forms are made to suit different skin types (e.g., oily or dry), and different skincare goals or needs (e.g., moisturizing, cleansing, exfoliating). Clay and mud masks suit oily and some "combination" skin types, while cream-based masks tend to suit dry and sensitive skin types. There are also peel-off masks which are great for when you need to remove thin layers of dead skin cells and dirt.[3]
This procedure also increases lymph flow which flushes out toxins. Hydrafacials provide customized hydration serums and boosters to suit each client's needs.
It also reduces wrinkles and fine lines. It can also reduce the appearance of sun spots, rosacea and acne.

Platelet-rich plasma facial
The non-surgical treatment of the PRP facial can help improve skin texture and tone. The PRP facial can not only treat wrinkles and fine lines but also helps to heal acne scars. This treatment is very popular with athletes as well as people who desire to look younger and improve self-esteem.
PRP is used in sports injury and orthopedic surgery to accelerate healing and repair injured tissue. It is being evaluated in dermatology for hair fall and wound healing.
Platelets are injected into the skin to produce growth factors which accelerate healing and collagen production. While the treatment may last several months for some patients, the majority of them are pleased with the results.
Recently, this treatment has gained a lot more attention. This innovative treatment can help heal skin faster and rejuvenate it. A medical team member will draw a sample from the patient, and then use the centrifuge to separate red blood cells from platelets. The platelets are then concentrated and made into a plasma with high levels of platelets.
High concentrations of growth factor proteins, which are proteins that help accelerate healing, can be found in the blood. They also have natural healing abilities. This high concentration of growth factors will accelerate the healing process.
In order to encourage tissue growth, plateletrich plasma can be used on freshly resurfaced hair. These treatments can be used as a non-surgical option to more invasive surgery.
PRP facial results can take time to manifest. Most patients will notice a significant improvement in their skin texture after the treatment. Some patients may experience slight swelling at the injection site. Most people can resume their daily activities one day after treatment.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
